A Note from the Founder
I am Vandana Uttamchand, the founder of Opulique. Starting Opulique was a dream that took root in 2020 and began to truly blossom in 2023, a few months into my divorce. That time marked a turning point in my life. Here was a chance to focus on myself for the first time. I’ve always been defined by roles: daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law. But after my divorce, I found the freedom to explore who I was beyond those roles.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to jewelry that stands out. Those tiny moments of someone stopping me at a gathering to ask, “Where did you find that?” were in fact defining ones. They made me realize that jewelry is an extension of on'es personality, a way to tell your story with flair and confidence.
As a Marwadi woman who’s never quite fit into traditional molds, I understand the beauty of being different. Growing up left-handed in a community that often emphasized conformity, I learned early on that standing out can be a strength. And while my upbringing was steeped in tradition, I’ve always sought ways to reinterpret and modernize it—to take what’s timeless and make it feel fresh and relevant.
